Our products are made from natural fibres and dyes. We do not use petro-chemical based dyes or materials as these take vast amounts of time to break down and ultimately seep into the environment. Our products are made to gently return to the earth after many years of enjoyment by you, therefore they must be cared for in a gentle way.
Although we recommend dry cleaning some items, we recommend that you first try washing your items at home following the instructions below, as the dry cleaning process uses harsh chemicals that can affect the natural dyes and fibres.
For all our products we recommend Dry Cleaning for the best result.
Caring for your Cushion Covers
Screen or Block Printed:
Hand-wash with a gentle detergent or machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water, hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat (linen & cotton may shrink in high heat.) Block prints can patina and become softer with age, the natural dyes may fade to a more subtle hue, but just as leather gains more personality with age and wear so do our cushions.
Woven or Applique:
Spot wash when necessary with diluted detergent, we recommend orange oil based fabric cleaners. Hand-wash the full cover sparingly. Use a gentle detergent or machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water, hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat (linen & cotton may shrink in high heat).
Embellished or Beaded:
Hand wash and spot wash only, hang or lay flat to dry. Use diluted detergent, we recommend orange oil based fabric cleaners.
Velvet:
Hand-wash with a gentle detergent in cold water, hang to dry.
To freshen any cushion, spray with a fabric deodoriser such as Febreeze and place in the sun for 15 minutes.

Caring for your Feather Inserts
When you receive your cushions be sure to fluff your inserts thoroughly. We ship them compressed to save everyone on shipping costs, but don't worry, with a bit of fluffing they will come up beautifully!
To fluff your insert, first pull the sides in and out several times. Then do the same by pulling and pushing the insert's corners in towards the centre. The aim is to get as much air in between the feathers as possible—this makes for a very plush and plump cushion.
If your cushion begins to flatten with time, simply re-fluff as per above. You can also set your insert out in the sunshine to rejuvenate and air it out!
Caring for your Silk Quilt
It’s like a good silk shirt, that needs a soft touch but gives you many years of luxurious wear. They are 100% cotton wadded and cotton lining so they breathe.
- Always use a top sheet and a cotton blanket under them for layering so it’s not in constant contact with you. Your quilt can be rolled back in the hotter months.
- Silk is better aired every week (it does wonders in a nice breeze) and dry cleaned a few times a year.
- To spot clean any spots - use a damp linen or cotton cloth with a not too hot steam iron—this way you apply steam to the spot. We use a little orange oil fabric cleaner here on the mark. Steam cleaning is great way of refreshing your entire quilt. Not too hot tho—it’s dupion silk!
- If you have a darling pet who likes to sleep with you put their special blanket on top.
- They can be washed, but sparingly—but are way too big for domestic machines because of their lovely generous proportions. The dry cleaners need to be super gentle with the lovely silk fibres—and again steam ironed to get the fibres back to their shiny selves. Because it’s pure silk and not synthetic there will be a small amount of fibre change and a little shrinkage after washing.

We use high quality Tuva Agora Fabric for our Outdoor Cushions. Caring for these properly will ensure longevity of your cushions and will keep them looking premium.
